Tourism for all

A Full Day Seminar for Tourist Guides

Tourist Guides have not only a moral obligation but also a legal duty to anticipate – and give due consideration to - the needs of all people and understand the challenges of access that many people face when using our services.

The entire tourism industry is moving towards becoming more accessible and inclusive and as usual Tourist Guides play a crucial part in this effort.

Some aspects of the “Tourism for All” seminar are familiar from the “Art of Guiding”. However, more specifically, we look at how to adapt our tours in the best possible way for guiding persons with mobility, sight and hearing impairments, as well as taking care of seniors’ and children safety and special dietary requests.

The “Tourism for All” course follows the guidelines for the European Standard for tourist guide training (European Standard EN 15565:2008).

All qualified tourist guides are eligible to attend face-to-face in Fatima, Portugal and places are limited!

What will the course participants will gain?

  • Learning about different kinds of disabilities
  • Learning the politically correct terminology used for persons with difficulties</li>
  • Gaining understanding of the advantages you will have when guiding people with difficulties
  • Getting ideas on how to improve your guiding services and make your tours more interesting for all kinds of audiences
  • Practicing guiding skills on people with difficulties, with an emphasis on persons with mobility, sight and hearing impairments
  • Understanding issues on children safety during guided tours
  • Becoming a more self-confident tourist guide and being comfortable while guiding people with impairments

General Information

The programme consists of 8 hours directed learning. It covers a range of development activities, essential in any guide training programme. The skills gained are transferable to many tourist guiding situations.

The “Tourism for All” seminar can be combined with the 2-day “T-GUIDE” course on guiding people with learning difficulties to supply a full package of training.

Check out the “T-GUIDE” course info page to find out details about it.

Programme trainers are FEG accredited. To achieve best possible results the number of the course participants is limited.

All trainees of the “Tourism for All” seminar will be awarded a FEG e-certificate of attendance.
